This course provides learners with a foundational understanding of how computers operate and the components that enable them to function. Learners explore hardware, including input devices, output devices, processing units, memory, and storage devices, and understand the role each plays in data processing. They also examine software, distinguishing between system software such as operating systems and application software such as word processors and browsers.
This course develops the learner’s ability to identify components, explain their functions, assemble basic computer parts, and apply operating system features to manage files and folders. By the end of the unit, learners gain practical skills in navigating the desktop environment, organizing digital information, and understanding how hardware and software integrate to form a complete computer system. This knowledge prepares them for more advanced areas such as networking, digital literacy, and programming.
